Is this just billing software?
No — billing is one piece. LessonCadence runs the whole studio: scheduling, lesson notes, practice and homework, the parent and student portal, reminders and messaging, invoicing and auto-pay, your cancellation policy, and multi-teacher management. It all hangs off the same lesson record, which is why nothing has to be entered twice.
What if I teach both music and academic subjects?
That's exactly who this is for. Subjects carry their own rates and durations, notes and assignments fit either kind of lesson, and a family with a piano student and a tutoring student gets one invoice.
Can parents and students use it?
Yes. Parents see shared notes, assignments, progress, and upcoming lessons; they can pay, save a card, turn on auto-pay, and request schedule changes. Students 13 and over can have their own login with exactly the permissions a parent allows. Under-13s never get a login — they're parent-managed records.
Does it handle group lessons?
Yes — group classes have a capacity, a roster, and per-participant rates and attendance, so each family is billed for what their student actually attended.
Do I need a new payment processor?
No — connect your Stripe account (or create one in minutes). You keep your money and your customers. Card fees pass through at Stripe's cost, and there's no platform fee unless you opt into LessonCadence Pay.
Is my (and my students') data safe?
Card data never touches our servers (Stripe handles payments, PCI-compliant), every studio's data is isolated at the database level, and you can export everything you own at any time.
Can I move my students over from another tool?
Yes. Import students, parents, and weekly schedules from a CSV with a dry run that flags problems before anything is saved. Exports from My Music Staff and MakeMusic Studio are recognized automatically, and founding members get free white-glove migration.
